Royal Voluntary Society

RVS is an age positive charity. Their volunteers deliver personal and practical support to help older people and raise awareness of the issues older people face through campaigns and research.

Their services give thousands of older people the opportunity and choice to live the life they want to every day and help them stay independent at home and active in their local community.

RVS offer practical help that can make all the difference – whether it's getting a lift somewhere, collecting something like a library book or shopping, or providing friendly company to break up the day.

One in three older people find it difficult to get where they want to go, particularly if they are without a car or find public transport difficult. Their Community Transport is vital to helping older people stay independent at home and active in their local communities.

When friends and family live too far away to make regular contact, RVS can provide a little bit of company and friendly social contact through our befriending services.

As part of the Good Neighbours service, befriending, either face-to-face or on the telephone, helps to reduce feelings of loneliness and increases motivation and confidence.

This regular chat provides a vital link into the community to those who can be socially isolated because of restricted mobility or because they can’t access public transport.

If you think you, or someone you know, could benefit from any of these services then please contact RVS on 0845 608 0122 or use their online form.

In Balfron RVS volunteers also put on the Thursday Lunch Club at 12 noon-2pm in the Church rooms.
